Bonding Time

This week we made it to our Halloween destination! We had no issues getting to the campground or getting checked in, though we did struggle with getting level in the site. The site has a subtle but steady incline toward the front of our rig. Our auto-leveling system needs to go all the way down on the front jacks before starting the sequence, and our rig is so long that a slight incline becomes a larger issue, so it struggled to do that. We made it work by raising the rear tires on some leveling blocks and Andersen hitches (another form of leveling). It reminds us that we’re still new to this world and there’s a lot to learn!

We got to meet a few families here in the campground that Kai and Reya have enjoyed playing with and have loved EVERY MINUTE of it! This past week has been nothing short of amazing, meeting new people and getting settled into our site. Dustin has been able to paddleboard almost every morning. Kai and Reya have been making new friends and enjoying their childhood. We’ve been seeing lots of stray cats run around (the kids are loving it, adults not so much). We’ve also been able to have campfires with other families.

We did have some unfortunate excitement with a heavy rainstorm. Dustin woke up to his side of the bed being very wet from what we think is the window seal, or the slide water being misdirected from a bunch of pine needles being on the roof. Either way, we stripped the bed, turned the mattress on its side, and cleaned up all the water before running a fan and dehumidifier! It’s back to normal now, so hopefully we can stop the leak from happening again. Just another reminder of the power of mother nature and how unpredictable RV life can be.

Like I mentioned, we’re at our Halloween destination, so we’ve got some exciting weeks coming up. Stay tuned for some more fun stories!
