Some of you may have noticed that I skipped a post last week. Well, we were having so much fun that I didn’t stop to write one! We just left Crockett, Texas, where we were hanging out for a full month. Why the random small town in Texas? We went to our first Fulltime Families rally. This is an organization that brings together families who live on the road full-time so we can socialize and trade tips and tricks. This particular event was over Halloween so we knew that Kai and Reya’s first Halloween in the RV would be a good one. There was two weeks full of crafts, activities, playtime, and of course, trick-or-treating in our costumes! Kai and Reya both met a lot of new friends and had a lot of fun playing. Kai even used some of his savings to buy a nerf gun to play with the other boys (of course he got the biggest one he could).
During our time in Crockett, Kai also officially learned how to ride a bike with no training wheels! It was a big accomplishment that had his confidence skyrocketing. Once he knew he could do it, he devoted time to helping Reya feel more confident on her bike. The end of the FTF event had parent versus kids games (like dodgeball and a water balloon fight) that both sides won and a send off dance. Reya knows how to boogie!

Dustin and I both met some really good friends while at the event as well. It’s hard to meet friends as an adult, even more so while on the road, so we’re very grateful that this event helped bring us together with other adults with similar life goals and values. Dustin enjoyed running, working out, and paddleboarding with the dads. I enjoyed running and walking with the moms. We had a group dinner just about every night after the event ended (we got a discounted monthly rate so several of us also stayed a week before and after the event). Being on our own now it’s weird to have to think about dinner!
We also got to celebrate Dustin’s birthday while with our new group of friends. It was a pretty good day followed by steak and truffle risotto, one of Dustin’s favorite meals (don’t worry, I wasn’t the one who cooked it!). Then we surprised Dustin with a charcuterie spread for birthday dessert, complete with a candle that Kai happily stuck in the mozarella! Overall we were all feeling pretty blessed with our new lifestyle and our new friends.
