Sedona Sights

We used a weekend day to explore a bit of the red rocks of Sedona and it did not disappoint! The drive in was incredible, so beautiful all around, even with the darker clouds. We all found roadside parking (the trailhead parking lot was full) and hiked along the Boynton Canyon trail. We loved seeing the rock formations and the desert vegetation along the way. The kids all had fun scrambling up some of the bigger rocks and boulders together. It’s more fun to hike with friends (two other families in this case) because Kai and Reya are distracted by the other kids. This means they’re not complaining about how long or boring the hike is or how they’re tired or hungry. Plus Dustin and I can relax a bit more knowing the other parents will help to make sure our kids don’t get hurt, like we keep an eye out for their kids. The saying ‘it takes a village’ is finally ringing true for us. We are immeasurably blessed to have finally found our (traveling) village.

This was a beautiful hike with some pretty cool rock formations along the way. We had planned to meet up with two additional families to hike to the Birthing Cave, but we got lost along the way and ended up on the wrong trail. We weren’t upset though, because that gives us an excuse to come back to this beautiful area again before we move to our next destination!
