Snow Canyon

One of the first hikes we’ve gotten out to do in Utah is Snow Canyon State Park. This was a really cool area to explore. We started by finding parking for our oversized dually. That led us to the Tortoise Walk, where every so often on the short hike there was a sign telling us more about the desert tortoise. This was a fun one to do with the kids, since the short nuggets of info are enough to hold their attention. The path ended in a large statue of a tortoise, which was pretty cool. Kai got a bug catching kit for Easter so he was bug hunting the whole way.

After the Tortoise Walk we headed across the road to the Petrified Sand Dunes for a quick hike. This was really cool to explore! We all got to scramble up the dunes from rock to rock. There was, of course, more bug hunting along the way. It’s really cool to reach the top of the dunes (or one of the peaks) and be able to see the view from the distance. There was also an interesting sight with one of the trees at the top, a nice circle around where the tree was growing. Unique, for sure! It was a beautiful day and a beautiful hike. We would definitely recommend Snow Canyon to those in the area!
