We decided to go back to Yosemite one more time during the week, so I had a coworker cover my oncall shift. We’re so glad that I did because the Vernal Falls hike was absolutely worth it! We started by parking in the visitor center lot again and taking the shuttle over (the wait for the shuttle was a very long time). Then it was a pretty steep vertical climb for pretty much the whole hike. The views were pretty amazing though! We got to take a small bridge over the bottom of the falls, we got to see a fun colored skink (lizard), and Kai and Reya got to sit on some rocks.
Going up through the mist trail was my favorite, though we were not prepared. It was walking through the mist of the waterfall for a good half mile. We all got soaking wet and I was the only one with a (very, super duper thin) jacket. Kai wore it on the way up, Reya wore it on the way down. Once we got to the top we saw some beautiful rainbows. We also laid on the rocks in the sunshine to dry ourselves off while overlooking the top of the waterfall. Overall we would definitely recommend this hike at Yosemite (but we would also recommend a rain jacket or more layers)!
