Ocean Coast

While we added Crescent City into our itinerary to explore the Redwood National Park, we also spent some time enjoying the pacific coastline. Our campground was right on the beach so we were able to explore pretty readily. We went over to the Battery Point Lighthouse and explored some tidepools. Reya and Dustin found a starfish that she proudly claimed as her “red, dead starfish” to all our friends. The weather was pretty nice while we were there too, which made for some great exploring.

We also went to Pelican Rock, a really cool point at the end of a marina. This is where we would always see seals lounging in the water and barking. We hiked the few minutes up to the top (where we could safely bring kids) and enjoyed the view before looking for more cool shells on the beach. It’s really cool to be able to walk and explore the area near our campgrounds without having to make a big deal of going to a national park or taking a long drive somewhere. There’s beauty everywhere to experience!
