The reason we chose Christmas as our destination for the week was for the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We took a sunset boat tour of the lakeshore and it was so worth it. We got to see all the cool rock formations that the Pictured Rocks are known for, like the Miner’s Castle, which we saw from land when we did our nature hike. We also got to see the waterfall, the Vase, and more. Kai and Reya ended up having fun on the boat and because it wasn’t at full capacity we were able to roam about between the top of the boat, the interior of the boat, and Kai’s favorite, the back railing of the boat.

The return trip was when the sun was setting and we lucked out with the weather! It had been raining on and off while we were in the area, but it didn’t rain during the boat ride. It was cloudy, but that made for some great photos. My favorite was seeing the sunset reflected off the Pictured Rocks. It was so vibrant and beautiful! If you’re ever in the area, we recommend a sunset cruise!
